Linda was born April 5, 1952 to Anton E. and Marie (Gross) Kraft in McLaughlin, SD. She was raised and educated in Shields, ND. Linda moved to Bismarck in her twenties. Linda married Darrel Simons on August 26, 1983, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck. She began her career at Melroe/Bobcat in 1974 where she worked until its closure. Linda then worked at Dan’s Supermarket until her retirement. Her time at Dan’s brought her many lifelong friends, and lots of laughs.
Linda was known for her infectious laugh, big hugs and kisses. There is no one on the planet who can make a deviled egg or taco salad the way Linda could. If her sisters or nieces came to Linda’s house with $100 and told her to get in the car to go to the casino, she was out the door before they were.
She loved company and her door was always open; whether it was to stop by for a quick chat or five hours of pinochle, you were welcome. Linda’s favorite times were spent around her and Darrel’s kitchen table with their family and friends playing an intense game of pinochle; sometimes into the very early hours of the next day.
Linda spent every day from August 26, 1983 with Darrel. You simply did not get one without the other. While they are separated for the time being, Linda will be by his side, as she always was, for the rest of his life; hopefully dealing him a good hand in every pinochle game.
Linda is survived by her husband, Darrel; sisters, Anna Marie Kraft, Janet (Jim) Moch, Joan Kraft, Betty (Jack) Schulz and Marge (Ryan) Bailey; brothers, Engelbert “Bert” (Deb) Kraft and Leo (Cindy) Kraft; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton E. and Marie Kraft and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Wilma (Morris) Simons.
