Linda Sue Ulmer (Satrom) was born on June 6, 1958, in Fargo, North Dakota, and passed away peacefully with her husband at her side on December 31st, 2024 in Estero, Florida at the age of 66.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 10 at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 1470 S Washington St, Bismarck.
The cherished daughter of Charles and Darlene (Port) Satrom, Linda grew up on the family farm in Page/Hope, North Dakota, as one of five beautiful, spirited and adventurous daughters. Her love for life and a good thrill made her childhood vibrant. She graduated high school in 1976 and pursued her passion for helping others by earning a nursing degree in 1980 from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, where she went on to spend her entire career at Sanford Health (formally known as the Bismarck Hospital).
It was in Bismarck where Linda met the love of her life, Keith Ulmer, in 1976. The two married November 29th, 1980 and began their life together filled with love, partnership and adventure. The couple enjoyed several blissful years before welcoming their first son, Marcus, and less than two years later, their youngest son, Michael. She was a devoted, nurturing, loving mother who found immense joy in watching her boys excel in sports, achieve their goals, and start families of their own; never missing a single milestone. Linda loved her daughters-in-law, Kelli (Marcus) and Chelsey (Michael), as if they were her own children and deeply treasured her role as a grandmother to Talan James (5-Marcus) and Quinn LeeJoan (3-Michael). She was the kind of grandma who ensured her grandchildren always felt special and loved, keeping their favorite snacks, toys, and essentials ready for any impromptu or planned visits. She cherished every moment with each of them.
Linda joined Keith in retirement in the end of 2020, and together they embraced their love of travel, creating unforgettable family vacations and enjoying adventures with good friends who've become family over the years.
Linda was a woman of many talents, a real jack-of-all-trades, whether it was fixing something around the house, challenging her boys in games, skiing down mountain tops, tending to her or her loved ones' gardens, crocheting, knitting, tackling a good DIY project; she could fix anything, create something beautiful from nothing, and bring warmth and love to every corner of her family's world. She truly appreciated the little things in life, from time spent at the family lake cabin and evenings with a good book, long peaceful walks alongside her husband Keith in the cool mornings, to savoring a good night cap- reflecting on her many blessings.
Linda will be remembered as a loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her nurturing spirit touched everyone that knew her, as to know her was to love her. Her calming presence of kindness, love and strength will live on in the hearts of her dearest loved ones.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Keith Ulmer; her beloved children, Marcus Ulmer and Kelli (Rueb) Ulmer, Michael Ulmer and Chelsey (Barth) Ulmer; her pride and joy, Talan Ulmer (Marcus) and Quinn Ulmer (Michael); her treasured mother, Darlene Satrom; and her sisters, Rebecca (Scott) Meek, Charlene (Gary) Hiam, and Lori (Tony) Baasch as well as her brother and sister in-laws Elden and Joan Ulmer and her many loved extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her deeply missed father, Charles Satrom; sister, Pamela (George) Pilgrim; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Margurite) Ulmer; father-in-law, Robert Ulmer, and mothers-in-law, Lydia Ulmer and Margaret Ulmer.
Linda’s family encourages all who knew her to honor her memory by sharing with one another a kind word, a loving gesture, or a story of a moment when she made your world brighter.
