Rainy was born on September 20, 1936, to Mable (Mader) and Dave Neether in Donnybrook, ND, as the youngest of six children. Her family life was a cherished treasure throughout her life. She attended high school in Stanley, ND.

On September 20, 1956, Rainy married Wallace Erickson of Bottineau. From a young age, Rainy dreamed of becoming a mother, a dream she fulfilled with the birth of her three children. She was deeply grateful for her husband and the beautiful family they created together. She was also very invested in her community, church and people in general.

Rainy was on the Board of Regents at Concordia College, President of the Western ND District American Lutheran Church Women and on the board for the ALC Convention “Journey of Love.” Rainy worked in the healthcare field in both Stanley and Bismarck. She worked with Charles Hall Youth and Family Services for years. She thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with Kogudus Prison Ministries. Rainy loved working around the students and staff as she volunteered for many years at Shiloh Christian School.

Amongst her many achievements, anyone who knew Rainy, even briefly, would say she was most passionate about her faith in Jesus Christ. After all else was said and done, she wanted her life to point to her Lord and Savior and for all to know and love Jesus as she did. Whenever she had a chance to ask, “Do you know Jesus?” she would. Rainy’s ability to make each person believe they were the most special people in the world was due to her love for Jesus. Her passion for Jesus remains a beautiful blessing and great example for all who knew her.

Rainy is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Brad) Miller; son, Brian (Rebecca) Erickson; her grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; her son, Carle; parents, Mable and Dave; and siblings, Virgil, Dennis, Betty, LaVerne, and DuWayne.

Rainy’s family wish to extend their sincere thanks to the staff and nurses of CHI St. Alexius Hospital for their tender, excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends of Shiloh Foundation to the Wally and Rainy Erickson Scholarship Fund.
