Louie Chmielewski, 94, Bismarck, formerly of Tappen passed away peacefully May 16, 2017, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck.Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, May 20, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Pastor Tom Moldenhauer officiating.Burial will be held at Fisher Cemetery, Tappen. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, May 19, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm.Louie was born in Peace Township Tappen, ND, on July 20, 1922, the son of Anthony and Frances Chmielewski. Louie was raised and educated at a rural school close to the family farm. Louie married Irene Oster and rented a farm until they later moved to his dad’s farm. Upon the passing of Irene he married Julie (Masseth) Rouse, and they continued to farm until 1982. They then retired and moved to Bismarck, where he took up woodworking. He also enjoyed pinochle, rummage sales, and other hobbies that kept him busy. Shortly after the passing of Julie he married Alice (Spangenberger) Fuchs, they resided at their Bismarck residence until his passing.Louie had prized possessions such as a 1929 Ford Model A pickup, several home built snow planes and various antiques. He was also an avid "no weed" gardener. He will be missed for his sense of humor and generosity.He is survived by his wife, Alice; the children of Louie and Irene, Lavern (George) Walls, Dale (Kathy), Alan (Kathy), and Steven (Connie); The children of Julie, Barb (Larry) Rueb, Richard, Robert (Brenda), and Michael Rouse; The children of Alice, Gary (Nancy), Ron (Jolette) Fuchs, and Bonnie (Jim) Wingenbach; His sister, Irene Sprague; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Preceding him in death are his parents; four brothers; two sisters; and wives, Irene and Julie.
