Luther Kristensen

Luther Melanchthon Kristensen, 87, Bismarck, died at home surrounded by his family on December 3, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 4^th St, Bismarck. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Cremation has taken place.

Luther was born March 7, 1932 in Ryder, ND to Rev. Elias Kristensen and Inga Kristensen. He graduated from Litchville, ND High School and received a Business degree from Valley City State College. Luther married Marilyn Peterson on September 6, 1950. Together Luther and Marilyn were blessed with six children. 

Luther loved spending his time with family more than anything else. Faith and family were the center of his world. He was also active in the churches he belonged to over the years.  He enjoyed his friends and neighbors, with an open-door policy welcoming everyone who might want to stop by. Luther and Marilyn also enjoyed traveling to Texas, Alabama, and Arizona in the winter time to visit with family and friends in warmer climates.

He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn; children Suzan (Steven) Skeen, Arab, AL; Thomas Kristensen, Rugby, ND; Terrance (Cathy) Kristensen, Bismarck, ND; Mark (Roxann) Kristensen, South Jordan, UT; Karen (Steven) Latham, Tucson, AZ; and Jane (Brad) Davis, Dickinson, ND; a sister, Constance Gregory, Fort Wayne, IN; a brother, Lowell (Shirley) Kristensen, La Croix, WI; sister-in-law, Florence Kristensen; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Elias Kristensen; mother, Inga Kristensen; brother, Robert Kristensen; brother-in-law, Samuel Gregory; and grandson, Matthew Kristensen.

In lieu of flowers, Luther’s family requests memorials to be made to The Angel’s Hands Foundation, 6151 W Lake Ave, South Jordan, UT, 84009, or Trinity Lutheran Church’s Banquet fund.
