MacDonald "Don" Omafray passed away on December 26, 2023. Born on August 7, 1937, MacDonald led a remarkable life filled with achievements and contributions that will not be forgotten.
A full Military Honor Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 20, at the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan
MacDonald graduated from Wilton High School in 1955 and went on to receive a Master of Science in Economics from NDSU 1969. His thirst for knowledge and dedication to his studies were evident throughout his academic journey.
A true patriot, MacDonald served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959. His commitment to duty and honor during his military service earned him an honorable discharge and the respect of all who served alongside him.
Beyond his military service, MacDonald was deeply rooted in his community. He spent most of his life in Wilton, where he immersed himself in its history and culture. His Ukrainian heritage held a special place in his heart, and he was a proud member of SS. St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church of Wilton, ND.
MacDonald's legacy lives on through the impact he had on those around him. He will be remembered for his dedication to family, friends, and country. In his free time, MacDonald enjoyed sharing stories about the rich tapestry of Wilton's history and its residents.
MacDonald is survived by his brother, Martin, Colorado Springs; sister-in-law, Carol Omafray, Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.
MacDonald was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Catherine Omafray; brothers, Bill (JoAnn) Omafray and Paul Omafray; sisters, Eva (Joe) Fedora and Genevieve (Jack) Johnson; and two infant brothers, Michael and Gregory Omafray.
