Maggie Volk

Maggie (Dietz) Volk, 95, Bismarck, formerly of Linton, died peacefully February 7, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 12, at Church of the Ascension, 1825 S 3rd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. James Braaten officiating. Burial will be held at St. Anthony Cemetery, Linton. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm Sunday, February 11, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary will begin at 6:00 pm. Maggie was born May 28, 1922, to Anton and Margaret (Wolf) Dietz on their farm west of Linton, ND. She worked on the family farm with her brothers and sisters through her mid-20s. She cooked, cleaned, milked cows and worked in the fields to help the family make ends meet during the Great Depression. On June 3, 1947, she married Mattie Volk at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in rural Linton. They farmed most of their life in the Linton area, retiring in 1978. She and Mattie moved to Bismarck in February 2000. Maggie was a member of Red Hats and enjoyed the group of special friends for many years. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Christian Mothers, Linton. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, playing cards, attending Daily and Holy Mass, spending time in Adoration, praying the rosary, visiting and spending time with her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Judy (Jerry) Feist, Bismarck, Sharon (Dave) Klein, Bismarck, and Karen Wiedemeier, Ft. Pierce, Fla.; two sons, Pat (Marcy) Volk, Bismarck, and Kenny (Mary Jane) Volk, Aiken, SC; four sisters, Mary Schneider, Waterford, Mich.; Betty Pietrzak, Waterford, Mich.; Regina Senger, Aberdeen, SD; and Helen Imberi, Eureka, SD; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mattie; parents; one infant daughter, Darlene Volk; five brothers, John, Mike and Joe Dietz and two infant brothers; two sisters, Katie Schneider and Eva Franzel; and one son-in-law, John Wiedemeier.
