He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvel and Inga (Berg) Wangen; brothers, Harold and Franklin; and sister, Ivy. Manley was born on October 17, 1936, in Harvey, ND. After graduating from Harvey High School in 1955, Manley took a job in Chicago with the railroad. After two years and saving his money he returned home and took a job with the ND Department of Transportation and joined the ND National Guard. While on a project near Drayton, ND, Manley met his future wife Linda. They fell in love, were married and moved to Bismarck in 1961 where Manley took a job with the SOO Line. Manley retired in 1995. Manley was a great family man and a loving father. He married Linda (Dahl) September 2,196, in Drayton, ND, and the couple had three children together. He spent a great deal of time teaching all three of them the proper way to operate a tractor, cut grass and take care of a garden. Manley was an active, social man in his community the “Ponderosa” who was always quick to help a neighbor fix a pump, take down a cottonwood tree, or help with any project that needed to be done. He was always ready to celebrate after it was finished as well. He loved working in his yard and at the local park, boating on the Missouri River, dancing with his wife, his German Shepherds, and watching his Minnesota Vikings. His family and friends will always remember him as a helpful and knowledgeable man who had the will and desire to solve any and all problems or questions that might arise.
