She graduated from Duluth Denfeld High School in 1961 and went on to graduate from University of Minnesota-Duluth with a major in English. She met her loving husband Michael Haley of 53 years, who also attended UMD. They were married on December 4th, 1965 in Duluth, MN. They were blessed to have their only child, Darren Michael Haley in April 1972. Midge worked with many charities in Duluth until 1981 when Mike’s career brought them to Bismarck, ND.
Midge was passionate about watching her son’s hockey career from youth to high school all the way to University of Wisconsin. She rarely missed a game and made the drive to Madison by herself if Mike couldn’t make it. Midge worked at Dayton’s Marketplace for many years, and she really enjoyed helping people find the right wedding presents and kitchenware for their homes. She made many lifelong friends that were colleagues and customers. In retirement, she wintered in Tucson, AZ and loved hiking the desert and enjoying the natural beauty of the desert. Midge was an avid reader that always had multiple books from the library. She also became a passionate fan of her only granddaughter, Reagan following all of her volleyball, hockey, and track activities. She had a great group of friends and enjoyed many evenings with the girls for wine, dinner, or a movie.
Midge is survived by her son, Darren and Michelle (Fettig) Haley and granddaughter, Reagan Haley; her sister, Susan (Roy) Hammerstedt; as well as nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews.
