Margaret Colleen “Peggy” was born on October 12, 1946 to Patrick and Norma (Gray) McIntyre in Bismarck. The family lived in the Wing/Regan area until moving to Minot, where Peggy graduated from Minot High School in 1964. She moved to Michigan with her first husband and their son, where their family grew by two daughters. They lived there for nine years before moving back to Minot. She held various jobs ranging from secretary to working with floral arrangements, which she loved to do. Peggy always had a smile on her face and gave 100%- no matter the job- so she could provide for her family. Her main goal was to love her kids and family and to have fun! She loved everyone unconditionally and never judged anyone. She had a knack for always saying the right words and an ear for listening, always making you feel better after a conversation. She had a smile that lit up the room and a personality that shined bright; everyone wanted to be her friend. Peggy suffered from juvenile diabetes, and in 2002 she received a generous donation of a pancreas and kidney. This, her family was very grateful for, as it gave them another 18 years with her. In 2011, she moved to Edgewood Vista in Bismarck to be closer to her medical providers. In late 2012, she moved to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Peggy was loved by all and created “family” with the staff and residents.
Throughout the years, Peggy was known for her green thumb, loved planting flowers and created flower arrangements. She also collected clowns earlier in life, which to this day still terrify her daughters. When she moved to Missouri Slope, she started to collect angels and before long acquired quite a collection. She enjoyed making all kinds of crafts that were gifted with love to friends and family. Her greatest joy was having visitors, spending time with friends and family, and watching her grandchildren’s sports and activities. While living at Missouri Slope, she was a member of the Red Hat Society and held positions on the Resident Council where she made a positive impact on resident care and needs.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Amy Michelle Hedgecough Berger and special friend Shawn, Minot, and Angela (Joel) Hedgecough Galloway, Bismarck; four grandchildren: Hayley Colleen Trent, Ryan Michael Hagel, Noah Bradley Galloway (special friend Abby Weinberger) and Reid Frederick Galloway; brothers: Marty (Jane) McIntyre, Minot and Michael (Melissa) McIntyre, Belmont, NH; sisters: Patty (Mark) Swanson, Velva, Pam Fredline, Carson City, NV and Gay (Jeff) Just of Minot; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her infant, twin sons, Gerald Patrick Hedgecough, Michael Thomas Hedgecough and son Bradley Eugene Hedgecough along with her parents, Norma and Patrick McIntyre.
Her family will forever be grateful for the love and care of all the staff at Missouri Slope. We would especially like to thank Brandi (Northeast Unit Director), Armeka (Patient Accounts), Linda (Admin), Tara (Social Worker) and all of the Northeast Unit Staff. The love and compassion you provided Peggy and her daughters made a difficult situation bearable. She was provided with excellent healthcare by her nephrologist Dr. Radu Raducu and Eric Lutzwick, NPC. Eric’s love and respect for not only Peggy but also Angela helped them both more than words can express. He was there when they needed him the most
and will always have a place in their hearts.
Peggy will be forever remembered for her infectious laughter.
Memorials are preferred to the Missouri Slope Activities Department.
