Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at Parkway Funeral Service where a vigil will begin at 6 p.m.
Marianne was born September 27, 1923 to Joseph and Anna (Schneider) Mastel. She was raised and educated in Bismarck first attending a rural country school and then graduating from St. Mary’s High School.
After graduation Marianne moved to Tacoma, WA where she and Frank Wenzel were married, February 26, 1943. She worked at a factory for a short time and then returned back to Bismarck to be closer to family while Frank was overseas serving in the Army during WWII.
Mom was a full-time homemaker while dad served on the Bismarck Police Department. In addition to being a great mom, she loved to plant her yearly flower and vegetable garden, enjoyed camping/fishing and was especially fond of animals. One of her favorite past times was keeping an eye on the weather and always kept us informed of the latest. Mom you should have been a meteorologist! As years went on, she was blessed to have grandchildren and great-grandchildren and dearly loved them. Gramma loved baking goodies for the grandkids to enjoy after school. She always made sure to keep up with their sporting events. Mom had a special gift to remember people and names. Everyone who knew her loved her.
She is survived by her son, Don (Cheri) Wenzel; grandchildren, Chad (Rachel) Wenzel, Rapid City, Dustin Wenzel and fiancée Cahri, Bismarck; great-grandchildren, Maci and Brooklyn Wenzel, Rapid City; sister, Bernice (Ray) Rolshoven, Mandan; and brother, James (Mickey) Mastel, CA, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind numerous special friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; daughter, Kathleen; grandson, Christopher, brothers, Eugene, Robert and her very special friend, Helen Nielsen that she met while living at Edgewood Vista.
A special thank you to the staff at Edgewood Vista and the Baptist Home Care Center for the wonderful care, compassion and friendship they provided to Mom during the last four years.
We will miss you until we meet again in heaven!
