Marie Ann Stettner, 80, Bismarck, entered her heavenly home on July 17, 2019.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday July 23, 2019 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Monday July 22, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.
Marie was born January 30, 1939, to Arnold and Dorothy (Groth) Helke, in LaCrosse, WI. She grew up on the family farm in Stoddard, WI, graduating from Central High School, LaCrosse in 1957. Marie enjoyed working at the Public Library in LaCrosse.
Marie married Leonard Stettner on October 17, 1959 at St. Paul’s Missouri Synod Church in Stanley, ND. They farmed in Ross, where they raised their children Amber, Shawn and Martin. In 1976, they sold the dairy cows and rented out the farmland. Marie assisted Leonard as a steel siding applicator for several years then began working as a home health aide for Mountrail County Social Services until she retired. More recently, Marie and Leonard, moved to Bismarck where she resided at the Primrose Community. Marie was blessed to remain at Primrose until her passing.
Marie was one of the original founding members of the Tuesday Twelve Homemakers Group. The friendships she developed through Homemakers were some of her most valued friends. Marie enjoyed attending and teaching bible study at the Ross Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Marie also enjoyed reading, gardening, and doing embroidery work.
Marie is survived by her husband, Leonard, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center; children, Amber (Chip) Stroschein, Shawn Stettner, and Martin (Mica) Stettner; grandchildren, Ashley Stettner, Christopher Stroschein, Hanna Stettner, and Isaiah Stettner; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Logan Stettner and Mya Nelson; her siblings, Doris Langaard, Karen Jeffers (Jake) Bowser, Lyle (Ardell) Helke, Arvin (Linda) Helke; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family of Marie would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Primrose for the love they showed her, and an extra special thank you to Cody for the joy he brought to her. The family also greatly appreciated the wonderful care given to Marie through both the Sanford Hospice and Julie Bauer’s team of caregivers. The teamwork provided by Primrose, Sanford Hospice and Julie’s team allowed Marie to pass peacefully in her home, just as she wanted.
