Marjorie was born on November 19, 1919, in Republic, MI, to Bertil and Priscilla Gjers. After her father’s death in 1924, she moved to Regan, ND, where her mom married Charles Magnuson. It was in Regan where Marjorie attended a one-room school house with three wonderful teachers, Mary Doil, Emma Coleman, and Little Dorothy. In 1938 Marjorie moved to Bismarck and she married Stanley Filkowski with whom they were blessed with four children, Josephine, twin sons Richard and Robert, and Sharon. Later she fell in love for a second time and married Bernhardt Schlecht. They were blessed with three children, Kenneth, Linda, and Charles. Marjorie was lucky to find love for a third time and she married Harold Kaiser. They had two children, Vickie and Timothy. Marjorie worked at St. Alexius Hospital for almost 30 years. After her retirement her greatest enjoyment was visiting her children and other relatives. Marjorie was a lifetime member of the House of Prayer Lutheran Church. Marjorie is survived by eight of her nine children; her grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maria. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, stepfather; her son, Richard; her sisters, Laura Mae, Bessie, and Madelyn; her brothers, Bertil and Charles; and her grandson, Harvey Eugene Anderson. Marjorie’s family deeply appreciates the love and attention given to their mom by The Terrace, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, and the funeral home.
