Mark was born in Bismarck, ND, on March 1st, 1964, to Kenneth and Marjorie Diede. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Bismarck, ND in 1982. Many memories were made while playing high school football.
In 1984, what Mark would not know, he would be introduced to the love of his life, Laurie Alice Diede (Heimann), while working at Bismarck McDowell’s Big Boy. She pulled through the drive-through, he noticed how cute she was (she noticed, too), and later that night went on a motorcycle ride. Riding motorcycle was one of his favorite hobbies, especially with Laurie. One of his favorite things he enjoyed, besides spending time with his granddaughter, was riding Harley Davidson on a winding road, slight wind blowing, with Laurie riding behind him. Mark was also an avid NASCAR fan, Minnesota Viking’s fan, camper, hunter, and fisher.
After their first date, Mark realized he was destined to be “stuck” with this woman. Mark was married to Laurie Alice Diede (Heimann) on May 25th, 1990, in Bismarck, ND at Cathedral Catholic Church in Bismarck, ND. To this beautiful union was born Nathan Jerome Diede on October 16th, 1991. He was their absolute pride and joy.
Following graduation from high school, Mark worked for Bismarck’s McDowell’s Big Boy, Twin City Marine, and then began his lifelong occupation in construction working for Froeschle’s Construction. After a short period, he began working for Moorhead Construction in 1984. In 2003, Mark, along with three other employees, founded Northern Plains Contracting out of Wolverton, MN. This would have been his 20th year as a partner with Northern Plains Contracting. Numerous water and waste water treatment plants have been constructed under his supervision throughout the upper mid-west. Work was the third of his pride and joy, with the first being his family.
Mark is survived by Laurie, his loving wife; his son, Nathan Diede (Brandi - “the daughter I never had”) along with his granddaughter, the light of his life, and second pride and joy, Aubrey; mother, Marjorie Diede (Schmidt); sisters, Carla Diede and Kathy Bayer; brother, Jeff Diede (Sheila): sisters-in-law Carla Engelstad and Judy Kennedy; brothers-in-law Joe (Wendy) Heimann and Greg Baron, and a very special niece, Alicia Jesme, and her daughter, Hazel; and multiple aunts, nieces, nephews, and the family dog, Dakota.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth “Kenny” Diede, along with multiple family members.
