Mark Stroh

September 29, 1953 — April 17, 2025

Mark Dale Stroh (aka “Sally”), 71, passed away on April 17th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 26th 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tappen, ND. A Prayer service will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 5-7pm at St. John’s Lutheran church.

Mark was born September 29, 1953, to Pete and Delaine (Briese) Stroh. He was the 4th of 5 children. He was raised and grew up on a farm south of Tappen. Mark attended school in Tappen, ND, and graduated in 1972.

After high school, Mark farmed and ranched alongside his mom and dad. His son, Jesse Schatz was born in 1972. He married Brenda (Eissinger) Brunning in January of 1974. They raised their two sons, Shawn and Damon, on their family farm.

Mark later married the love of his life, Kim Syverson on February 28, 2009. With this union, he lovingly welcomed his three stepchildren Chris, Brandon, and Tonya.

Mark had a love and thrill for the open road with fast classic cars, watching and attending NASCAR races. He enjoyed cranking his music loud enough that the neighbors could recognize the song, a cold Budweiser in hand, and laughing with friends.

In his later years, Mark started his firework stand, US Extreme Fireworks, helped by his grandson, Devin. People would come from miles around to purchase fireworks from him. He was a fireworks guru, knowing exactly what each one did, how high it soared, and how bright it would burst. At the end of each season, he would put on a beautiful light show for the community.

Mark enjoyed farming alongside his son Shawn, as well as spoiling his grandkids. He took pride in caring for his house pets, especially his four towering Great Danes who followed him around loyally.

Mark will be remembered most for his big selfless heart and willingness to help anyone in need. And even though he was a man of few words, if he knew you liked something, he wouldn’t just buy you one, he’d bring you 15!
