Marlys Strom 80, Steele, passed away on July 8, 2017, and has gone to join her husband. Services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Steele, with Rev. Jacob DeBoer officiating.Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 12, at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele.Marlys Jean was born June 20, 1937, in Logan County, ND, to George and Anna (Martel) Rudolph. Marlys grew up on a farm east of Napoleon and attended Grenz Country School from 1st to 4th grade, during 4th grade she started attending school at Napoleon Public School and graduated from 8th grade. After her 8th grade graduation she started working at the Strom Cafe in Napoleon, were she met the love of her life Melvin E Strom. They were joined in marriage on June 17, 1956, at the First Lutheran Church in Napoleon. After their reunion of marriage, they lived on the Strom family farm south of Kintyre then Melvin's job take them to New Leipzig, Glen Ullin, Kintyre, and to Steele in 1976. Marlys and Melvin were blessed with four children in five years so Marlys was busy being a loving wife, mother, and a homemaker. Once all her children started school, she would fill the void by helping her husband with book work at the Farmers Elevator in Kintyre. When they moved to Steele, Marlys once again went back to waitressing and worked at the Bowling Alley for many years. She loved to visit, tease and joke with her customers. One of Marlys's dreams was to receive her high school diploma, so after her four children all graduated high school she decided it was time to fulfill that dream. In 1985 Marlys received her GED, she was very proud of that accomplishment. She had a passion for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she loved to cook huge meals and entertain family and friends and held many gatherings at her home. She loved to visit and will be missed dearly. Marlys was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.Marlys is survived by her four children, Myron (Kam), Melody (Tim), Murray (Pauline), and Melinda (Ron) Strom; her five grandchildren, Michael (Lori Beth), Nicholas, Kristen, Jeffrey and Kaden Strom; two great-grandsons, Nathan and Lincoln Strom; two sisters, Mayvis Wolf and Coleen (Chuck) Peck; and nieces and nephews. Marlys was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Melvin E Strom; her grandson, Jonathon Strom; her parents, George and Anna (Martel) Rudolph; brother, Melvin Rudolph; brother-in-law, Anton Wolf; and niece, Nicole (Peck) Harmann.Memorials in Marlys's name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Steele.
