Martha Dittus

Martha Dittus, 100, died April 9, 2019, in Bismarck.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday April 15 at Mandan United Methodist Church, 610 12^th St. NW, Mandan, ND.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sunday April 14 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm.

Martha Karoline Jose was born on December 25, 1918, North West of Golden Valley, to John and Annetta (Buchman) Jose. She was raised and educated at a country school in the Golden Valley and Dodge area.

On October 31, 1937 she married Emil Unrath in Golden Valley, ND. Together they farmed South of Golden Valley. In later years, Martha and Emil moved into Golden Valley. Emil died November 3, 1983, following his death she moved to Beulah.

Martha married Leo Bauer in 1984; where they lived in Beulah, ND.

Martha married Roy Dittus on March 19, 1991 in Zap ND at the Congregational Church. Roy and Martha lived in Glen Ullin, ND and for the last 13 years have lived at Prim Rose, in Bismarck, ND.

Martha enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, cross stitching, knitting, and cooking. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mandan, also a lifetime member of the Germans from Russia.

Martha is survived by her husband, Roy Dittus; her three children, Vernon (Paulette) Unrath, Tim (Sandy) Dittus, and Carol (Marlin) Sapp; her six grandchildren, Craig (Melissa) Unrath, Stephanie (Jason) Bentz, Chad (Kayla) Oberlander, Dawn (Chris) Hanson, and Johanna and Christina Dittus; eight great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; one brother, Ervin Jose; and one sister, Ruth Sanders; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Jose, Freda Jose; special nephew, Kelly Giese; special niece, Lynette; and numerous other nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Emil Unrath and Leo Bauer; her siblings, Art, Gilbert, Elmer, Ida, and DeLora; and one daughter-in-law, Deloris Unrath.
