Martha Johnson

Martha Mae Johnson (nee Fuchs), 94, of Jacksonville, NC, formerly of Tuttle, ND, died February 19, 2025 at home.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 3, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. 

Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. 

Martha was born May 15, 1930 in Grant County, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Fuchs.

She married Gordon Johnson on October 31, 1948. They had three children, John, Neil and Audrey. In 1960, the family moved to the Tuttle, ND area where they farmed and ranched until 2007.

Martha loved traveling and enjoyed visiting family across the country, as well as visiting her daughter’s family in England and Scotland.

Upon Gordon’s passing in 2007, Martha spent her summers in North Dakota with her sons and their families and the winters in North Carolina with Audrey and her family.

In 2015, Martha moved in permanently with Audrey and her husband, David.

Martha was a fierce competitor when playing games, especially card games and Aggravation, and she loved putting together jigsaw puzzles.

She was loved by many and everybody would always comment on how sweet and kind she was and what a wonderful smile she had.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Audrey (David) Neumann; daughters-in-law, Audrey Johnson and Joanne Johnson; sister, Betty Gall; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons; three brothers; a baby sister; and a baby that died shortly after birth.
