Martin Wisdom, 99, Mandan, went to Heaven on April 20, 2018, at Sunset Drive Prospera Community, Mandan. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 28, at Sunset Drive Prospera Community, 1011 Boundary St. NW, Mandan. Martin was born in Minot, ND, on April 13, 1919, and was baptized at the age of 80. He served in the US Marine Corp during World War II. Martin married Martha Palmateer on September 23, 1942. He was a farmer and then became a road foreman for Henry Luehr Construction of Pettibone, ND, from 1957 to 1962 and for the next 20 years worked for various other road construction companies. He later worked as a mechanic for Jobber’s Moving and Storage and retired from there at the age of 70 in 1999. Time spent with his family was a very important part of his life. Martin and his family lived in Steele from 1965 to 2015. He enjoyed ice fishing, trapping for fox, coyotes, and mink. He also loved gardening and outside work, playing cards with their friends around the Steele area and you could find Martin and Martha driving around the countryside on almost a daily basis. Martin is survived by his wife, Martha; children, David Wisdom and friend Jan, Mandan; Virgil (Deb) Wisdom, Washburn, Sherry (Orlin) Wick, Mandan, Sharon (Norm) Franck, WA, Jo Winefeldt, Lincoln, and Brenda (Duane) Reiswig, Bismarck; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sons, Elwood and Gary Wisdom; one brother, John Hanson; sister, Clara Brady; brother-in-law, William Brady; and son-in-law, Don Winefeldt.
