Marv was born Aug 2, 1936 in Bismarck to David and Frieda (Herrmann) Wegner, and for the first 12 years of his life he lived with his family on a farmstead north of Dodge, ND. In 1948, the family moved to Bismarck, and in 1953 he graduated from Bismarck High School. After graduation, he farmed near Bismarck with his father.
In 1956, he started working at Chase Chevrolet in Mandan. Within a few years, he was promoted to business manager (later called comptroller), a title he held for the rest of his 50 years of service at the Mandan Chevrolet dealership. Marv was highly respected in the industry and was awarded multiple times as an Outstanding Professional Member of the Chevrolet Business Accounting Managers Council.
On May 5, 1960, Marv married Lavina Bohl, and together they had three children, Sonda, David and Lisa. Lavina passed away in 1974. When Marv married Rita on Sept 10, 1976, four more children were added to the family…Vern, Mary, Peg and Mike.
Marv and Rita loved to travel, which they did often together and with their family. He also loved the outdoors, and especially liked to hunt and fish with his children, as well as with his brother Willie. He also enjoyed keeping up on national news and politics.
Marv was a man of strong faith. He was a kind, loving, strong, gentle man who was a wonderful role model for his children and grandchildren. All who knew him and loved him were blessed to have him in their lives.
He is survived by his children Sonda Bender, David (Sue) Wegner, Lisa (Mike) Carpenito, Vern (Karen) Aus, Mary (Durwin) Berntson, Peg (Steve) Neff and Mike (Jenae) Aus; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
