Mary Ann (Wald) Goetz, 56, Bismarck, died February 24, 2019, at her home, after a short battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday, March 1, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Wayne Sattler and Rev. Jim Gross officiating.
Burial is at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, February 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary service will begin at 7:00 pm.
Mary Ann was born July 27, 1962, the fourth child of Baltzer and Helen (Weigel) Wald and grew up on the family farm north of Napoleon. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1980 as valedictorian. Following graduation, Mary Ann attended the University of Mary in Bismarck and later graduated with honors from NDSU in Fargo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She began her career as office manager at Peterson Mechanical in Fargo and later managed Aeriel Beauty Supply until moving to Bismarck in 2001.
Mary Ann and Dean Goetz were united in marriage on June 30, 2001 and made their home in Bismarck. The couple’s son, Seth Ryan, was born on August 11, 2004. Being the only grandchild in the family, Seth is the apple of his parent’s and grandparent’s eye. Mary Ann worked at American Family Insurance and Dakota Natural Health Clinic. She loved watching Seth play sports such as baseball, football, and track. She enjoyed planting flowers, cooking and baking, taking long walks, and took great pride in maintaining her home. Mary Ann enjoyed watching the crops grow at their family farm, and Harley rides with Dean. She especially loved time spent with her family and friends, dancing, camping, and traveling.
Mary is survived by her husband Dean and their son, Seth; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mavis and Eldor Goetz; four brothers and three sisters, Dennis, Mandan, Sharon Graff, Everett, WA, Robert (Carla), Bismarck, Sheila Bentz, Fargo, Tom (Clarissa), Bismarck, Donny, Bismarck, and Michelle (Mark) Jensen, Bismarck; nieces and nephews, Kayla (Nick) Seifert, Michael (Amanda) Wald, Miranda, Mallory and Matthew Jensen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Baltzer and Helen Wald; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in c/o Mary Ann Goetz at Bremer Bank, 710 S Washington St., Bismarck, ND, 58504, to benefit some of the family’s favorite charities and future designations.
