Mary Ann Laber, 85, Napoleon, entered her heavenly home on September 6, 2017, and joined her family members who have gone on before.Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.Mary Ann Allmaras was born on November 16, 1931, in New Rockford, ND, the daughter of Phillip and Annie (Lill) Allmaras. She was raised and educated in New Rockford and then attended College of St. Benedict’s in Minnesota. Mary Ann married Marvin Laber on November 3, 1949, in New Rockford. They farmed and lived in New Rockford. In addition to helping Marvin on the farm, Mary Ann worked at St. James Academy and John’s Country House in New Rockford. Following Marvin’s passing, Mary Ann moved to Bismarck to be closer to family.Mary Ann was the head chef at the Eagles Club until retiring reluctantly at age 80. She was a gifted baker and would make the wedding cakes for her family and friends. Mary Ann was a prolific painter and enjoyed sharing her art. She was truly a remarkable lady who cared for others in all she did and she will be dearly missed.Mary Ann is survived by her children, Marveen (Archie) Gilliss, Patty (Marty) Boyle, Dan (Jean) Laber, Joni (Gary Nagel) Dodds, and Darin Laber; her daughter-in-law, Patty Laber; 19 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Phyllis Plunkett. She was preceded in death by two sons, Dave and Dennis Laber; her husband, Marvin; her parents; her sister, Amelia; and her brother, Eldon.
