Our loving mother, Mary Jane (Sprynczynatyk) Hruby, 94, Wilton, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2020 in Bismarck surrounded by her family.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wilton. Those attending services are to follow CDC regulations regarding masks and social distancing guidelines. The service will be livestreamed from the funeral home’s website.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A rosary/vigil service will begin at 7 p.m.
Burial will be held at the church cemetery.
Mary was born on Feb. 19, 1926 to Nick and Anna (Kassian) Sprynczynatyk in rural Wilton. She was the proud daughter of a coal miner. She was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukranian Catholic Church where she was a member of Ladies Aide and did many things for the church, especially bringing flower arrangements. Mary was also a 4-H leader. She attended Grass Lake School and Wilton Grade and High School.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, entertaining guests, cooking Ukrainian food and sewing. Mary also enjoyed playing Hand and Foot at the senior center and going to the casino. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandkids.
Mary married Peter Hruby on May 8, 1943 in Wilton. They lived and farmed until 1991 when they moved to Wilton. She milked cows, picked rocks and helped with other chores on the farm.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Brown (friend, Bob Landgren), Marlys (Joe) Zimmerman, and Darlene (Ron) Seidel, all of Bismarck; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale (Karla), Bismarck, and Marlin (Mary), Wilton; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill and Paul, both of Bismarck; sister, Hattie Evoniuk, Belfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; sister, Olga Ktytor; brothers, Mike, John, Peter; three young siblings; son-in-law, Alden Brown; and her parents.
Mary was a very strong and giving person, with a memory that everyone admired. She will be remembered by all as a sweet, caring, and loving lady.
