Mary Jane Reiner, 89, Bismarck, went to her heavenly home on Jan. 5, 2021. A private family service will be held 10:30 a.m. Jan. 11 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Bismarck. The service can be viewed at www.sotv-bis.org or https://www.facebook.com/sotvbis/
Mary was born June. 17, 1931, in rural Billings County near Belfield to Joseph and Mary (Gawrylic) Twardoski. She was raised and educated in Belfield.
Mary met her future husband, Elmer Reiner, while working as a waitress in Dickinson. They were united in marriage on July 1, 1952, in Hazen. Elmer passed away in 2009.
Mary was a most excellent cook, her family never went without. She made all of the old traditional German and Russian dishes. Mary loved going to rummage sales, finding deals, and visiting with people. She very much enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had great love for all animals, and enjoyed their company immensely. While living in Minot, she owned and operated a bookstore and later worked for Jiffy James Catering. Mary helped her husband with many church related events. But the most important thing in her life was what her Lord and Savior had given her, Eternal Life.
She is survived by her sister, Regina Morel; daughters, Linda and her husband, Kim Filipek, Kim Reiner and Ruth Yoder; son, David and his wife, Lana Reiner; four grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Joseph Twardoski; husband, Elmer; an infant daughter, Julie Reiner; ten siblings; and other family and friends.
Memorials may be sent to the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Bismarck, or Lutheran Hour Ministries, St. Louis, Missouri.
