Maxine Bergquist

March 1, 1935 — August 23, 2024

Maxine R. Bergquist was born on March 1, 1935, in Turtle Lake, North Dakota, and passed away on August 23, 2024, in Bismarck, North Dakota.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 30, at Riverview Cemetery, Washburn. All are welcome to join in honoring her memory and celebrating her remarkable life.

Maxine, a cherished friend and beloved family member, was the only living child of John 0. Bergquist and Ruth C. (Nelson) Bergquist. Her early years were spent on the family dairy farm in McLean County, where she learned the value of hard work and dedication. She contributed to the farm by cooking and assisting with various chores, all while balancing her education and enjoying play time with family playmates and friends.

Maxine's formative years included attending a country school in McLean County, just across the road from her family home. She later moved to Bismarck to attend high school and eventually continued her education in Seattle, WA, where she graduated from the University of Washington.

Maxine's passions included interior design and festive food preparation, showcasing her creativity and flair in both fields. She enjoyed music and sang in the Lutheran church choir. Her love for animals was evident in her habit of adopting stray kittens, with a feline companion often by her side.

Maxine was quick, generous and dedicated to help others in need.

In addition to her residence in Bismarck, Maxine managed her apartment building and the family farm, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to her family's legacy. Her relatives remember her for her special talent in finding unique and intriguing gifts that always brought joy and curiosity to those who received them.

Maxine's vibrant spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Donations and remembrances in her honor may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 N 4th St, Bismarck.
