Melanie Svanes

Melanie "Mel" Lynn Svanes passed away on February 22, 2025.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, Feb. 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. 

Burial will be held at the Kintyre Cemetery, Kintyre.

Melanie Lynn Svanes was born in Bismarck on December 4, 1968, to Rolf and Carol (Schlosser) Svanes. Mel was the second of three children to Rolf and Carol. Denice the oldest, Joy the youngest.

Mel attended Elementary and High School in Napoleon. Graduating in 1988. She enjoyed living on the farm in Kintyre while growing up.

After graduation, Mel became a lifelong resident at Enable in Mandan. She also worked at HIT Inc. filling envelopes and shredding papers. Mel was known as a social butterfly at HIT as she enjoyed visiting with friends and staff.

Mel was known for her sharp tongue and quick wit  usually at Denice's expense. Mel also enjoyed her shopping trips to Fargo with her staff from Enable.

Melanie is survived by her dad, Rolf, Bismarck; sister, Denice (Terry) Bohlman, Lincoln; nieces, Michele (Dustin) Page and family, and Cindi (Adam) Houtkooper and family, both from Minnesota; many aunts, uncles, cousins and staff and friends from Enable and HIT.

Mel was preceded in death by her mom, Carol; sister, Joy; grandparents on both the Svane's and Schlosser family, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
