Michael Ray “Dudeman” Barrett, 40, passed away on September 1, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Burial will be held at a later date at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Michael was born on November 24, 1979 at 3:33 p.m. to Charles Barrett and Joan Uhrich. He was raised in the Mandan/Driscoll area and graduated from Driscoll High School. Following graduation, he joined the Army and was stationed in German where worked for the prison in the culinary department – this is where his love of cooking food began. After four years of service, he was discharged in 2002. Upon his discharge, he returned to Mandan working various construction jobs. He also spent time in Atlanta, Ga., climbing communication towers. Michael returned to North Dakota working for odd construction jobs and recently moved to Fargo a year ago.
Michael loved cooking, watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR, hunting and fishing, kayaking and being anywhere the outdoors would take him. He was always joking around with his friends and family.
He is survived by his mother, Joan Otto, Mandan; sisters, Loretta (Cliff) Stroud, Atlanta, Ga., and Stacy (Frank) Schnellbach, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brother, Christopher Barrett, Mandan; half-brother, Perry Barrett, Wilton; grandmother, Irene Ferderer; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Charles; grandmother, Ellen Barrett; grandfathers, Roy Ferderer and Earl Barrett; and aunt, Mary Jane Ferderer.
