Michael “Mike” Zainhofsky, 78, Bismarck, passed away September 26, 2017, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday, September 29, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Wayne Sattler officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, September 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Mike was born on August 18, 1939, in Rugby, ND, the son of Frank and Edna (Rauch) Zainhofsky. He grew up in Towner, attended Assumption Abbey High School, and graduated from St. Benedict’s College. He later obtained his master’s in business administration from the University of North Dakota. Mike married Diane Ternes in 1966 in Bismarck, and they enjoyed 51 years together. Mike started his career at the North Dakota Tax Department. He moved on to the position of director of OEO at the State Capitol appointed by Governor Guy. He later was employed by Basin Electric as a systems analyst. For 25 years, Mike was the director of the Burleigh County Housing Authority. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. Mike is survived by his wife, Diane, Bismarck; his children, Steve (Dawn) Zainhofsky, Eau Claire, WI, Suzy (Brian) South, Brentwood, CA, and Sarah (Joey) Pepka, Bloomington, MN; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Bailey, Austin, Abbi, Jenna, Michaela, and Katie; his sister, Cecilia (Jerry) Rauum, Scobey, MT; and brothers, Frederick (Myrna) and Jerome (Geraldine), both of Bismarck, and Ralph (Lynn), Corsicana, TX; and 21 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Lucia and Madeline; and brother, Adrian. Special thank you to Dr. Aaron Luebke and his staff.
