Myrtle Arlene Neumiller was born March 4, 1933, in Kidder County, the seventh child of Edward and Mabel Neumiller. She joined her siblings Robert, Lyle, Bernard, Norma and Nellie in their sod home on the prairie. Her first-born sister, Velma died in infancy. Before their youngest sister, Virgie, was born they moved to the new two-story, white farmhouse south of Heaton. Myrtle grew up in a home that loved and served the Living God and she, too, served the Lord from a young age through the very end of her life.
Myrtle and Orland met as infants because their mothers were best of friends. They grew up together in the same farming community, they attended the same fellowship meetings, Myrtle was Orland’s sweetheart when he was serving in the Army in Germany and when he returned they were married on Sept. 29, 1955. They farmed together for forty years and during that time, they had three children who were raised with love, a strong work ethic and a steady example of living true.
As Orland’s health failed, they moved off the farm to Mandan in 1991. They had 58 years and three days of marriage together. After a fall in her home and a subsequent fall two years later, Myrtle finished her earthly journey surrounded by her family resting in a true peace that can only come from a life fully lived in God’s will.
Myrtle is survived by her three children, Darwin Lien, Mandan, Rhonda (Bruce) Weeda, Wahpeton, and Rocklyn (Stephanie) Lien, Clayton, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jamie (Jimmy) Roberts, Kayla Lien, Jordan (Heidi) Weeda, Amy (Brad) Benjamin, Grace Lien and Emily Lien; great-grandchildren, Tristen, Collin and Taelyn Roberts, Kora and Natalie Lien, Elle, Aryn, Felix and Esko Weeda, and Oliver and Henry Benjamin; her sister, Virginia Proefrock, Nisland, South Dakota; brother-in-law, Lester Lien, Harvey; and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
