Nancy Billings

Nancy Joy Billings, 88, Bismarck, passed away from this life into the arms of our Heavenly Father on April 13, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 21, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1500 Country West Road, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be held at 12:00 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Nancy was born on July 10, 1934, in Minneapolis, MN, to George and Laura (Gilman) Tischer. She grew up and attended schools in the Minneapolis area. She also attended BYU in Utah.

In 1958, Nancy was introduced to the love of her life, Robert, by her father at a church function. They were married and sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in Utah, on June 18, 1959. They were the true example of a great love story. Shortly after marriage they packed up and began their life in Cambridge, MA. Later, they made their home in Devil’s Lake, ND, where Robert worked for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. They raised their boys and made their home there.

Nancy was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was active in Eastern Star and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel. She loved her calling as a Temple worker where she worked beside her husband. Bob and Nancy moved to Mandan in 1995. Throughout the years Nancy enjoyed hand quilting, cooking, cake decorating, knitting, reading and most of all spending time with her family. She enjoyed telling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren stories from her childhood.

Bob and Nancy moved to Bismarck with family in June of 2022 due to declining health. Nancy’s favorite line was “The Golden years aren’t so Golden.”

Nancy will be deeply missed by her husband, Robert; sons and their families, Robert and Janelle  (Danyelle, Andrea and Jovana), John (Joshua, Chelsea, Leah and Cheyenne), Daniel and Debbie (Tayler, Lindsey, Robert and Jeffrey), Peter and Stacy, (Jesse and Kirk); brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Mardena Billings; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Glynn Michael; several nieces and nephews; and 12 great-grandchildren, Adeline, Drystan, Jimmy, River, Joey, Emily, Dorothy, Charly, Teddy, Genesis, Harley, and Baby Sanchez.

Those embracing her in Heaven are her parents, George and Laura; brother, George Tischer; in-laws, John and Florence Billings, John and Joanie Billings, David Billings; special uncle and aunt, KC and Bertha Gilman; cousin, Randy; and grandson, Jonathan Billings.

The family would like to thank Hospice Red River Lindsey, Serena and Erica for the loving care given to our sweet, dear Nancy.
