After a battle with Parkinson’s and cancer, Nicholas S (Nick) Knoll, 83, Bismarck, went to meet his Lord and Savior on September 23, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday, September 28, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm Thursday, September 27, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. A vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm, fellowship will continue after the vigil. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Nick was born on the family farm near Menoken, the third child of Mike and Mary (Martin) Knoll. He married Charlene Renner on June 10, 1957. In their early years they made their home on the family farm near Menoken then moving to Bismarck in 1968, raising their three children, Mary Kay, Dean and Rob. He was a truck driver at heart, in his early years working for Pius Halter Trucking, then Midwest Motor Express and in his later years Northwest Transport. Nick served as the President of Midwest Motor Express Credit Union and during his 36-year career was presented many accident-free safe driving awards. An achievement that he was very proud of. He was also proud of his farm/ranch life which gave him the hard-working and honest values he had. He enjoyed camping and boating with family, and dancing the night away with Charlene on Saturday nights. After his retirement, they enjoyed many years of traveling across the United States. He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Charlene; his daughter, Mary Kay (Brian) Knoll, Bismarck; sons, Dean Knoll, Parker, CO, and Rob Knoll, Menoken; his grandchildren, Victoria Walery, Bismarck, Dr. Mike Walery, Minot, Sacha Knoll and Sean Knoll of Parker. CO; his brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Judy Knoll, Barstow, CA; his sister, Advina Kenyon, Bullhead City, AZ; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and their spouses; along with many beloved nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Mary Knoll; his brothers, Edward Knoll and Leonard Knoll; sister and brother-in-law, Min and Marvin Krein; and brother-in-law, Paul Kenyon.
