Norma Amundson (better known as Grandma Norma), 89, passed April 9, 2018, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 16, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St., Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Sunday, April 15, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck. Born December 4, 1928, in Bismarck to Henry Theodore (Ted) and Mary (O’Neil) Amundson, Norma was raised on the family farm north of Regan where she attended rural school. She graduated from Regan High School in 1946, then attended Valley City Teachers College and earned her Standard Teaching Certificate. Norma went to Mary College and attained her Bachelor’s Degree in teaching, graduating in 1973. Norma taught in several rural schools in addition to Steele, Medina, McClusky and Regan. She was also a substitute teacher at Wilton Public School for several years. Norma married Anton (Tony) Roubal on September 10, 1955. They lived on the Roubal homestead northeast of Regan where they raised their four children. Norma moved to Regan in 1976 and her and Tony were divorced in 1977. In 1981 Norma moved to Wilton and resided there until she moved to Bismarck in 2008. In 2014, Norma entered Missouri Slope Nursing Home and resided there until her death. Norma always appreciated it when Orville Speten would stop by to fill her in on the happenings of Wilton when he made his routine visit to the Wilton folk residing at Missouri Slope. Grandma Norma loved to feed people, no one ever left her house hungry. Her children and grandchildren will tell you that Norma was an expert baker, the favorites were her homemade bread, kuchen and lefse. Norma was in her glory when she could teach other people her kitchen skills. It didn’t matter if she was teaching a house full of women to make lefse, showing her kids how to pack a jar of cucumbers to make pickles, or how to roll dough for kuchen or make homemade bread. Norma is survived by her daughter Sherry (Wesley) Leno, Bismarck, two sons Wesley Roubal, Bismarck and Terry (Holly) Roubal, McClusky; one daughter-in-law, Julie Wilson (widow of Lesley) and her husband Daryl; her brother-in-law, Willys Wanttaja, Prior Lake, MN, and her sister-in-law Gen Amundson, St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Samantha Leno, Bismarck, Kevin (Sara) Leno, Lincoln, Wesley Geiger, Mandan, Reid (Danielle Frame) Roubal, Bismarck, Andrew (Gail) Roubal, Alex (Ruth) Roubal, and Austin Roubal all of McClusky; she also leaves behind 10 great grandchildren, soon to be 11.
