Orvin J Moe

Orvin J. Moe, 90, Bismarck, died November 20, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, November 30, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage   Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Craig A. Schweitzer officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 pm Thursday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Family will greet visitors from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Wednesday, November 29, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Orvin J. Moe was born May 30, 1927, in Flora, ND, the son of John and Olga (Stowe) Moe. He grew up in Kempton and Larimore, graduating from Larimore High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He went on to attend and graduate from the University of North Dakota with a degree in commerce. In 1953 he married Helen Fugleberg at the Elm Grove Lutheran Church, near McCanna, ND. He began his career with Standard Oil in Fargo. The couple made their home in several North Dakota communities before finally settling in Bismarck in the late 60s, where he continued working for Standard Oil Co, until his retirement. Orvin enjoyed fishing and boating, and was a member of the American Legion and the Masons. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Orvin is survived by his wife, Helen, Bismarck; two daughters, Cheryl (Brian) Monson, Boise, ID, and Laura (Dick) Anderson, Naperville, IL; five grandchildren, Erik (Sarah) Olson, Bismarck, Anders Olson, Ashland, OR, Thor Olson, Ashland, OR, Tate Anderson, Naperville, IL, and Grace Anderson, Naperville, IL; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Ava Olson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Norma Moe.
