Patricia "Pat" Friez

Patricia “Pat” Friez, 86, Bismarck, died October 31, 2018. Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 5, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Pastor Sylvia Bull officiating. Family will be greeting visitors one hour prior to the service at Parkway Funeral Service. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Patricia Grace Mary Hendershott was born on August 30, 1932, to Wendell and Esther Hendershott. Patricia was one of five children born to that union. Patricia attended school in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School. Patricia worked various jobs when she was younger to help support her family. Those jobs included cashiering at the Red Owl grocery store and doing window displays and selling clothing in a dress shop. Pat married the love of her life, Raymond Friez, on August 15, 1953. Pat and Ray were blessed with two children, Curtis and Sandra. When the children were of school age, Pat returned to work. She worked for Golden Rule before taking a position at Montana Dakota Utilities, where she worked for 20 years, rising to the position of being the office’s first female supervisor, a position she was extremely proud of. When not working, she enjoyed designing house plans, camping with her family and gardening. Pat was well-known for her immaculate flowerbeds. Flowers brought Pat great joy. Many of her plants had come from her mother’s flowerbeds and held a special place in her heart. Pat and Raymond had a large extended family that they spent many hours with, camping and entertaining. Many camping trips and meals were shared. Pat loved entertaining and cooking. There are many fond memories of family dinners out, followed by “coffee and dessert,” which actually consisted of another smaller dinner, dessert and coffee. Anyone that knew Pat will tell you they never left her house hungry. Her kind, giving nature assured usually at least one container of food went home with you. Pat’s potato salad was legendary and was always requested by her grandchildren at family meals. Pat lost the love of her life on February 5, 2012. They had known each other since they were teenagers and spent very little time away from each other. Pat passed away at her home on October 31, 2018, reuniting her with the love of her life. Pat is survived by two children, Curtis Friez (Denice) and Sandra Schulz (Todd); five grandchildren, Nicholas Friez (Sarah), Matthew Friez, Kyle Friez (Julia), Jerome Schulz and Alexandra Schulz (Chase); one great-grandchild, Logan Friez, and one great-grandchild due in December; her siblings, Carl, Betty and Rosemary; in-laws Harold, Martha and Ruth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond; her parents, Wendell and Esther Hendershott; her brother, Lee Hendershott; in-laws Herbert, Louise, Boyd, and Elinor; and nieces Linda and Carol.
