Peggy E. Bahn

July 19, 1927 — October 26, 2024

Margaret E. “Peggy” (Lambert) Bahn, 97, Bismarck, went to her heavenly rest on October 26, 2024.

Peggy was born July 19, 1927 to Alvin and Margaret (Hall) Lambert in Maxbass, ND. She attended Maxbass Public Schools where she played center on the Lady Mustang’s basketball team and graduated in 1946. While attending high school, Peggy clerked at the local grocery story. That is where she met the love of her life, Cecil (Joe) Bahn. Peggy and Joe were married June 20, 1946 in Wolf Point, MT. They lived for a short time in Maxbass before moving to a farm in the Newburg – Russel area.

On their farm, Peggy and Joe raised cattle, small grains and four children. Peggy was very involved in the community and church. She served on the lunch committee at Newburg High School and on the board at Dovre Lutheran Church. She and Joe attended many, many basketball games over the years plus band concerts, plays and anything else their children were involved in.

Peggy travelled to Bottineau for league bowling with her team for many years. In 1972, she participated in the ND State Women’s Bowling Tournament in Minot. She earned the championship in Division I All Events.

Peggy and Joe retired from farming in 1980 and moved to a new home in Newburg. They continued to enjoy the community for 10 years before moving to Minot. They lived near the mall and enjoyed their daily walks in the halls followed by coffee at the Food Court with friends.

Wanting to be closer to family, they moved to Bismarck in the fall of 2012. After Joe passed away, Peggy joined the Senior Citizens center and made many new friends. At one time she was a coffee server and helped pack “Meals on Wheels”. She enjoyed her Tuesday and Thursday afternoon games of “Hand and Foot” as recently as last week. She didn’t mind losing, but always enjoyed a win. She kept her mind busy by doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, word finds and was also an avid reader. She also enjoyed a trip to the casino now and then.

Peggy is survived by her son, Rod Bahn, Bismarck; daughters, Joanne Dieterle, Jamestown, Kay Buirge, Florida and Toni Daede, Bismarck. Grandchildren, Jeff Bahn, Jerry Bahn, Scott Dieterle, Jennifer Jacquemart and Sara Erdmann and 13 great grandchildren. Her sister, Marlene Spencer of California; her favorite sister-in-law, Pam Lambert of Williston and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Bahn; her parents; three sisters and a brother; two sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law and a great grandson.

Peggy’s funeral service will be Friday, November 1st, 11 AM at Good Shephard Lutheran Church with burial at 2 PM at the ND Veterans’ Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
