Phillip Donovan Morrissey went to the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ and his eternal heavenly home on January 20, 2025. He was 96 years old.
Philip was born in Eudora, Kansas on July 25, 1928 to Frank and Esther Morrissey. He was Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Standard Oil and was transferred to Mandan, ND in 1954. He retired from the refinery in Mandan, ND.
He married Phyllis Kalweit Lewis on July 19, 1963. Phillip was an avid reader and gardener. Phillip and Phyllis owned a unique small farm along the Missouri River. Together, they camped, fished and raised a variety of small animals. His dog Bucko was his favorite. They also owned the Bird House in Bismarck.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; brother, Frank Morrissey, Lacey, WA and sister, who was very special and close to him, he greatly admired and loved, Mary West, Tulsa, OK. He also leaves behind a step-grandson, James Lewis (Josh Taylor), FL; a niece, Brenda (Patrick) Schmidt, TX, and a great nephew, Dr. Sid (Amy) Schmidt, Mandan whom they “adopted” to became the son and daughter he never had, and great long-term friends and neighbors, Steve and Jolene Elefson.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eileen Rittinger; brother, James Morrissey; and step-son, Terry Lewis.
