She grew up and worked on the family farm near Glenn Ullin and graduated from Glenn Ullin High School. In 1957 she married Adrian Feser in Glenn Ullin, ND. Together they had three children, Kaye, Jim and Phil. They lived all of their lives in North Dakota spending time in Devils Lake, Mandan and Bismarck. From 1957-1966 she was employed at floral shops in Devils Lake and Bismarck. In 1972 she graduated from Bismarck Junior College with an Associate degree in Commercial Art. After receiving her degree she was employed in the art and advertising field in the Bismarck area. She was also a very active artist and a member of various professional art associations. Phyllis loved genealogy and was the Genealogy Chairman for the ND Society of Germans from Russia. She co-authored several books on family history and the history of iron crosses. In 1982 she suffered a serious illness that left her with many special needs. Her husband Adrian was by her side until his death in 2014 with his unending devotion and commitment to her, never asking or expecting someone else to care for her. They were inseparable and were true to their vows of “in sickness and in health, for better or worse”. Despite her illness, Phyllis still loved to draw and doodle filling thousands of pages with her drawings.
