Phyllis Wentz, 88, Mandan died on June 7, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 22, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck ND. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. Burial will be held at 3:00 pm Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Phyllis Mae (Timm) Wentz was born May 14, 1930, in Napoleon, ND, to Herman Timm and Anna (Kaz) Timm. Phyllis attended and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1948. Phyllis married Douglas Wentz on September 25, 1949, and they had four children while living in Napoleon. In 1958 Phyllis and Doug moved to Bismarck where Phyllis started work at Sears and continued there for 28 years. While in Bismarck, Phyllis was a member of the Happy Homemaker Club, American Postal Workers Auxiliary where she was president at the state and local level. Phyllis was also with the Royal Neighbors of America and active in the American Legion Auxiliary where she held several offices. In their retirement years, Doug and Phyllis were active members of Dakota Rambler Good Sam where she was secretary for many years; spending 15 years as snowbirds at Sun Life in Mesa, Arizona, and volunteering well into her 80s. Phyllis loved crafts and the art of quilting, crocheting, sewing— making exceptionally beautiful things for her family. Phyllis was a true artist. She loved decorating her house for all holidays. Phyllis is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Allison (Mike Christian) of Burnsville, MN, Shelley Wentz Fitzgerald (Tom) of Santa Barbara, CA, and Cindy Stein (Joe) of Lincoln, MT; her daughter-in-law, Patti Wentz of Fargo, ND; her eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; her son, Greg; her parents, Herman and Anna; and her four sisters, Evelyn, Alice, Lucille, and Lois.
