Interment at Black Butte Cemetery, Regent, North Dakota.
Ramona Monke grew up on a small farm north of Regent. The daughter of a farmer and the eldest of four girls, Ramona's younger days were spent living life around the prairie viewing Black Butte. She graduated from Regent High School in 1958 and married her lifetime love, Vernon Dean Larson, on June 22, 1958. They welcomed a daughter, Verlaine, shortly later and settled in Mott, North Dakota. Ramona cherished the days staying home with her daughter until she took a job at the Mott Public Library as an assistant. Ramona enjoyed the days watching her daughter grow and helping her husband farm and ranch except when the summer heat set in.
Later in life, Ramona and Vern moved to Beach where she worked at the hospital. Not long later, Ramona took on one of her favorite roles in life, Grandma. She was blessed with three grandchildren, all who took her on the craziest adventures. Whether it be blanket forts on the clothes line, driving lessons in an open field, quick trips for fry fries, or unexpected trips to downtown Bismarck, Ramona's time and attention to her family was always most important. Her macaroni salad, peanut butter bars, and elf hats will be family favorites for years to come.
In her final years, Ramona battled dementia and while her family grieves her passing, they also find comfort in knowing she is no longer missing the moments she cherished the most. In her final days, she was surrounded by those who loved her most and even at the end had a few eye rolls and smirks to make sure everyone knew Moni was still here.
Ramona will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 66 years, Vernon; as well as her daughter, Verlaine, and son-in-law, Larry; her grandchildren, Lindsey (Jeremiah), Lance, and Lyndon (Sara); great-grandchildren, Violet, Sawyer, Hazel, and Aeris; sisters, Sonja (Tim) and Rita (Jeryl); sisters-in-law, Shirley and Sharon; brother-in-law, Roger (Mary), and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was greeted in heaven by our Lord as well as her parents, Elmer and Magnhild; sister, Sharon, and brother's-In-Law, Myron and James. We have no doubt her beloved cats were waiting for her too.
Moni loved a good laugh, sweet treats, and kitty cats. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Central Dakota Humane Society and make a memory with your family.
