Rebecca Ann Mehlhoff

June 14, 1975 — February 25, 2025

Rebecca “Becky” Mehlhoff, 49, Tuttle, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Tuttle Community Church. Burial will take place at Emmanuel Cemetery, rural Tuttle.

Rebecca Ann Mehlhoff was born in Edina, MN on June 14, 1975, born to David and Wanda Swenson. She moved to the farm in Rollag, MN with her parents in July of 1975. Becky went to Haiti with her parents on a mission trip for three months when she was 1.5 years old. Everyone was attracted to her because of her red hair.

Becky grew up on the farm with her younger brother Jonathon. Becky’s early years were filled with time out on the farm. She enjoyed going over to visit her grandparents on the farm where she could go and be spoiled by her grandparents and enjoy some cheesy puffs and popsicles. She was also known for getting into trouble with her cousins on their family farm. She graduated with honors from Barnesville High School, MN in 1993. She attended Oak Hills Christian College and earned a four-year degree in religious studies as well as a two-year degree in medical coding at MN state Community College in Bemidji, MN.

In 1998 Becky moved to Bismarck, ND to begin her job at St. Alexius as a medical coder and University of Utah. She was highly loved and respected by her co-workers. She later met the love of her life John Mehlhoff at a hayride Bible study that was on John’s place as they were set up by their mutual friend Stephanie Kuhn. Within nine months of meeting, they were married because as Becky would say “When you know, you know.” She moved to Tuttle to live on the farm with John and would have her three kids who she loved dearly, Abigail, Ty, and Bryce. Becky was a loving and doting mother as she was there for her kids to comfort and support them day and night. She would plan yearly vacations for her kids that the entire family looked forward to every year. She encouraged her kids to seek Jesus in everything they do.

In 2014, Becky was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. She would enter remission for seven years. During this time, worked for the University of Utah as she continued her certification to become a medical auditor.

In 2021, Becky was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She fought a hard and courageous battle and took refuge in the Lord. She shared her story on Facebook that uplifted others and shared the love of Jesus. She was met with a supportive community and through this we truly learned how God works through his people as there were many nights when she was in extreme pain that people were awake to pray for her, and that really helped us to see how Jesus showed up through the most difficult moments of life. Becky would want you to know that if you put your faith in Christ, He will show up for you too.

Becky is survived by her husband John Mehlhoff, Tuttle, ND and her children Abigail, Ty, and Bryce; parents, David and Wanda Swenson, Hawley, MN; brother, Jonathan (Megan) Swenson; niece, Bentlee; and nephews, Gunnar and Walker.

Becky is preceded in death by her grandparents, Theodore and Bernice Gunderson, Oliver and Manda Swenson and many aunts and uncles.
