Richard Dale Muse, of Bismarck, was born on February 27th, 1933 in Stockport, Ohio. The son of the late Dale and Marjorie Dawson Muse. He graduated from Windsor High School in Stockport in 1951. He worked for a brief time at Ohio Power before enlisting in the U.S. Airforce in 1952 where he was a mechanic on B52's, until discharge in 1956. He married Joan McGarvey in August, 1955 and to this union four children were born, Steve, Randy, Natalie (deceased) and Tim. He began his 38 yr. career in the grain elevator business in Nashua, MT, in 1957. The family later moved to Reserve, MT, and remained there until 1965, when they moved to Grenora, ND. That marriage ended in divorce.

He married Karmen Jacobson in Grenora in 1972. To this union three children were born, Toby, Dusty and Ben. They moved to Rock Lake, ND in 1979, when Ben was a week old. This marriage ended in divorce.

He met Marlene Grindberg in 1985, and they became husband & wife on June 28, 1989 in Zanesville, Ohio. This union brought Richard another family; Marlene's children, Sue, Terry and Vicki. He Loved them all as if they were his own. They lived in Minot, ND until 2011 when their home was destroyed by the flood. They moved to Bismarck, ND in the fall of 2011. They were very excited about their new home in Bismarck! Marlene and Richard enjoyed very much being snowbirds in retirement. They joined family and friends in Deming, NM for many years! They also enjoyed camping in the summer months. They were joined by many of their grandkids!

One of Richard’s passions in life was playing and coaching baseball. He had the distinct honor of coaching the Grenora American Legion baseball team from 1967-1976, along with Walter Enget. They made Grenora a very consistent winner, year in, and year out. He had the privilege of mentoring many young men, and they were like an extended family to him! In July of 2022, Richard was inducted into the North Dakota American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame. We were all very proud of him for achieving this great honor!!

He also enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family! He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Wild. Many days and evenings were spent watching games with Marlene and other family members right by his side.

He was a member of Grenora American Legion Post, 116 Alvin T Larson, Am Vets, and Lord of Life Lutheran Church.

Richard is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marlene; sons, Steven (Sherrie) Muse of Bismarck, ND, and their children, Ryan of Bismarck, Taylor of Mt.
