Richard was born in Stanley, North Dakota on March 12, 1959, to Doris (Eisenzimmer) and John Schneider, while his father was teaching at White Earth, ND. Richard was the middle child of five and the youngest son.
He attended McLaughlin Public School, McLaughlin, SD before the family moved back to the home farm. He then attended Balta Public School, Balta, ND. After school he farmed, and ran his own concrete business before deciding to obtain his Engineering degree. He started this process by attending BSC and then moving on to NDSU to complete his degree. In his professional life, one his proudest moments was receiving his Professional Engineer certification.
Richard began his career as a Civil Engineer at ND DOT, where he indulged his passion for designing bridges and highways. He shared with his family the intricate process and dedication required to build well-structured projects. Later, he continued his career at WSB & Associates Engineering, where he valued the camaraderie of his colleagues and shared many stories.
On June 19, 1981, Richard was joined in marriage to Debra Schneider at St. Francis Exavier, Anamoose, ND. To this union were born children that he was so very proud of Heather (A.J. Ouradnik), Fargo, and Richard C. Jr. (Shaunda Pirnat), Boise, ID.
He was given the gift of carpentry from his mother. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in the garage. His handy work will be missed. Richard shared his passion of hunting and fishing with his son, Richard Jr. and was looking forward to sharing this with his grandchildren. He instilled the love for the outdoors in his daughter Heather. He was able to take his children to Alaska, and his grandchildren on a camping trip to Red Lodge, Montana, which were great moments for him.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
