Richard Veal

G. Richard Veal, 89, Mandan, died October 29, 2018, at Miller Point Community, Mandan.Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 6, at Living Hope Nazarene Church, 1826 N 8th St, Bismarck, with Pastor Rich Wyatt officiating.  Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Monday, November 5, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a sharing of memories will begin at 6:00 pm. Richard was born March 3, 1929, in Perkins County, SD, to Boyd and Mildred (Iverson) Veal. On June 30, 1950, he was united in marriage to Ina Kavonios in Bismarck. Following marriage, they moved to Faith, SD, before moving back to Bismarck where Richard began working at the Case dealership in Mandan. Richard worked for Case for 20+ years until the mid-70s when he went to work for Melroe, in Bismarck, until he lost his eyesight in 1976 and had no choice but to retire. Richard enjoyed woodworking, Ham radio, computers, traveling, and keeping active around the house. Richard is survived by his granddaughter, Rhonda Cook; his great-grandchild, Caleb Cook; son-in-law, Richard Wengel; brothers, Boyd and Donald; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina; his son, Dwayne; daughter, Jeanne Wengel; parents; his brothers, Thomas and Daryl; and sisters, Mildred and Verla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Masonic Lodge-Child’s Learning, the ND Association of the Blind, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
