Richard D. Volk, 90, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 11, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, with Deacon Terry Glatt officiating. Burial is at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Richard was born July 4, 1928, to Joseph and Anna (Fritz) Volk, in Bismarck. He was the fifth of eight siblings. Richard was employed by the City of Bismarck in the Sanitation Department in 1951 until 1990, when he retired. Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1952 – 1954 and spent that time in Europe, mainly France. He was happily married to Beverly (Tekippe) until her passing in 1989. Richard was active in the AMVETS and Moose Lodge and focused particularly on the Mooseheart Organization, a home for disadvantaged children. Richard was a diligent worker and loved his family most. He is survived by his devoted sister, Anne (Volk) Bradford, whom always insured every aspect of his well-being and was his primary advocate; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna; his siblings, Margaret Seer, Michael Volk, John Volk, Barbara Lockbeam, Sebastian Volk, and Delores White. In lieu of flowers, Richard requested memorials may be given to the AMVETS and Moose Lodge 302 (Mooseheart), both in Bismarck.
