Ricky & Sherryl Heidt

d. July 1, 2022

Ricky (Rick) Alan Heidt – April 26th, 1946 to July 1st, 2022

Sherryl May Heidt – May 20th, 1946 to July 5th, 2022

Sherryl and Rick Heidt left this world within a few days of each other after being happily married for over 50 years. Sherryl was raised in Garrison while Rick was raised in Wing, but they eventually settled in Bismarck, and lived there for the rest of their lives.

Sherryl was a loving wife and mother.  She worked at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center for many years as both a nurse and nursing home administrator.  Sherryl enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley and the Beatles. She also loved needlepoint and other crafty pursuits.

Rick was a caring husband and father. He spent most of his career at Bismarck High School starting out as a German teacher, and later moved into the position of assistant principal. After retiring he worked in consulting and speaking on issues facing young people such as depression, suicide, and bullying.  Rick was highly involved with sports throughout his life.  In his younger years he played baseball and basketball, and later in his life he coached baseball, basketball, and soccer. He was also an avid sports card collector – what started as a father-son activity turned into a lifelong hobby.

Rick and Sherryl were both exceptionally devoted grandparents and cherished the time they were able to spend with their grand-daughter, Kate Heidt. During the last decade of their lives, they made frequent visits to British Columbia to spend time with her.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Sanford Homecaring and Hospice and Good Samaritan Society – St. Vincent's for their care and compassion. There will be no funeral services at the request of the deceased.
