Rizalina N. Gokim, M.D., 84, Bismarck, passed away July 21, 2017 at Sanford Health.Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday July 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 520 Raymond St., Bismarck, ND, with Rev. Monsignor Thomas J. Richter presiding. Rev. Monsignor James Shea will concelebrate.Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. A Rosary/Vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Randal Schmidt presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the church service.“Lina” was born December 29, 1932 in Lucena, Quezon, Philippines, to Juan and Paz (Eleazar) Nañagas. She attended St. Paul’s University Manila, then the University of Santo Tomas, College of Medicine, graduating in 1957. She then was a resident physician at Jose R. Reyes Memorial Hospital, Manila, Philippines. Lina’s specialty was Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat, but continued her career in the field of Ophthalmology.Lina married Gualberto “Bert” Gokim, July 10, 1965, Manila, Philippines. They had one daughter, Maria. They moved to Bismarck, ND in 1973. After Maria had started elementary school, Lina decided to go back to work part time at the Ellingson Eye Clinic, she then continued working at The Eye Clinic of North Dakota, retiring in the mid-1990’s. Even prior to retirement, Lina was involved with Bible Study, and volunteer work at St. Vincent’s Care Center where she would play the piano for the residents, and assist with the mass.Lina is survived by her daughter, Maria. She is also survived by her sister Buensuceso (Antonio) Abadilla, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Pablo, Sergio, and Eulalio; sister, Presentation; and sisters-in-law Virginia C. Nañagas, and Lourdes B. Nañagas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 520 E. Raymond St, Bismarck, ND 58501; or the charity of your choice.
