Robert (Bob) Christensen

November 7, 1946 — December 13, 2018

Robert James Christensen, 72, a special brother and friend to many, of Elgin, ND, went to his eternal peaceful rest on December 13, 2018.

Robert was affectionately known as Bob or Bobby C. by his family and friends. Bob was born November 7, 1946 to Howard (E.H.) and Helen (Symanoski) Christensen. He spent the majority of his life on the family farm west of Raleigh, ND. He attended Raleigh Grade School and graduated from Flasher High School in 1964. Bob went on to begin his farming career with his brother Brian. He truly enjoyed working and living on the farm. Bob loved animals, especially his last dog, Ginger, who was his special companion for many years. He retired in 2010 and moved to Elgin, ND. Until his health made it impossible for him to travel, he enjoyed spending his winters in Mesa, AZ. There, he quickly made new friends with not only his neighbors, but all the dogs as well. He would ride his scooter down the streets and hand out doggy treats to all the neighborhood dogs.

Family was very important to Bob as he took great pride in his nieces and nephews and their accomplishments. He was a kind and gentle man who loved children and always seemed to have a piece of candy or chewing gum for all those he met.

Bob had many interests. He had a large gun collection, an antique tractor collection and dabbled as well in coins. He also enjoyed a good pinochle and whist game. He was a member of the Raleigh Rod and Gun Club for many years and was a current member of the Dogtooth Antique Tractor Club. For many years he drove a tractor in the Raleigh tractor trek. Hunting, and especially fishing, were a big part of his life, never passing up an opportunity to buy another fishing pole and more tackle. His attraction to water and fishing can be attributed to growing up a stone's throw from the Raleigh Reservoir. Although he loved to hunt and fish, his true love was his beloved Minnesota Vikings. Regardless of the number of times they let him down, he was always ready and upbeat for the next game. Skol Vikings!

Bob is survived by his brother, Raymond (Sandra) Christensen, Glen Ullin, ND; sister, Arlis (Gerald) Waltos, Baldwin, ND; brother-in-law, Buell Reich, Bismarck, ND; nieces Shari (Pat) Sanders, Kristin (Jeff) Willadsen-Smith, Jennifer Waltos, Andrea Waltos, and nephews Dr. Brent (Lisa) Reich, Kyle (Shelly) Christensen, Justin Waltos and Brandon Waltos.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Arlene Reich; and brother Brian.

Cremation has taken place and celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
