Bob (Robert) John Schulz, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed peacefully in his sleep on August 1, 2024, at the age of 69.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 1470 S Washington St., Bismarck. A livestream of the service will be available on this website.
Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 6-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 P.M.
Born in Bismarck, North Dakota on January 8, 1955, Bob was the son of Marvin and Irene Schulz. Bob grew up in Bismarck, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1973.
He met Cheri Lyng in 1981. They married on July 31st, 1982, and spent 42 wonderful years together.
Bob was a cowboy at heart, a straight shooter, a lifelong sports enthusiast, and a loving grandfather to his eight grandchildren. In his free time, Bob enjoyed watching old western movies, playing golf, riding horse, hunting, and spending time at the sandbar on the river playing cro-shoe with friends. He loved history and had the best taste in music, with affinity spanning genres and decades from Hank Williams to the Eagles and Jimmy Buffet. His love for sports started as a kid, continued as a competitor in high school and junior college athletics, and ended as a spectator, cheering on his grandchildren in soccer, baseball, basketball and softball.
He is survived by his wife Cheri Schulz, their children Ryan (Kacie), Jordan (Krista), and Heather (Kyle), and grandchildren Sam, Ruth, Fletcher, Everett, Leland, Arlo, Millie, and baby (expected Sept). He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Jozie and Annie.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Bob will be deeply missed and forever remembered as Friend (Schulzy), Husband, Dad, “Papa Bob,” and Wolfgang Buckles.
