Robert (Bob) E. Westbee passed away in his home at the age of 86 on May 10th, 2023.
Bob was born July 30, 1936, to Donald and Harriett Westbee in Valley City, North Dakota. He graduated from Central Valley High School in Grand Forks in 1954, and immediately went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota. He worked in the banking industry for many years and was promoted to President at First Bank (US Bank) in Bismarck in 1975. In 1983, he moved to Mason City, IA, to run First Interstate Bank before his retirement at the age of 59.
Sports and the outdoors were where Bob found joy. Not only did he enjoy attending Minnesota Viking and North Star games as a fan but he was also an athlete himself throughout all stages of life. This ranged from playing baseball during his time at UND to playing hockey. Bob’s true passion was golf, playing as much as six days a week. He also enjoyed exploring the outdoors and hunting, passing that skill down to his son.
Bob is survived by his son, John (Linda) Westbee, Bismarck; his daughter, Nancy (Mike) Morris, Spokane, WA; sister, Mary Louise Lund, Houston, TX; grandchildren, Alexa (Michael) Carlson, Arika Westbee (Nathan Rodrigues), Ashley (Nick) Bianco, Abby Westbee, Joel Morris, Victoria Morris, four great-grandchildren, and his former spouse of 35 years, Roberta Westbee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Carole.
