Rodney A. Goettertz

March 8, 1954 — January 22, 2019

Rodney Goettertz 64, passed away January 22, 2019, at his home in Aurora, Colorado. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm followed by a prayer service on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel in Steele, ND. He was born March 8, 1954 in Bismarck, ND to Alfred (Allie) and Frances (Whitney) Goettertz.  He graduated from Steele-Dawson High School in 1972.  He joined his father in the family trucking business and worked as a truck driver for several years until he began working as a meat cutter for supermarkets in Steele, Bismarck and later, Denver, CO. Rodney had a big heart and a gentle soul.  He was an extraordinary story teller with a wonderful sense of humor.  He was a great dancer, a gifted woodworker, loved to fish and was a huge Vikings fan. He is survived by his significant other, Vivian Martinelli; his mother, one sister, Ruthie DeWall, Casper, WY; one brother, Rocky (Teddi), Bismarck, ND; two nieces, Rory (Rusty) Horsley, Cheyenne, WY; Rana DeWall, Bozeman, MT; and two great nieces, McKenna Horsley and Ashton Horsley, Cheyenne, WY. He was preceded in death by his father, Allie.
